• LGBTQ+

While the LGBTQ community have made great progress towards gaining the legal protections and rights afforded to other citizens, these legal protections are still applied unevenly. For example, these legal protections often do not extend to those who are transgender, and to LGBTQ people of color. They also do not protect LGBTQ+ people from implicit prejudices and unspoken forms of bias that may impact an individual's interactions with acquaintances, coworkers, systems, and establishments. These negative experiences constitute micro-traumas and are corrosive to the individual's mental and physical health. When these micro-trauma’s compound with time, and are not discussed, processed, and validated by a compassionate listener, they can exact an increasingly significant toll on the individual's mental and physical health, relationships, and wellbeing. I have a special interest in assisting LGBTQ individuals navigate these stressors and find pathways to healing and empowerment.

  • Creative Professionals and Artists

I have been fascinated by the psychology of creativity for some time, along with the special challenges associated with making creative pursuits in one's career and livelihood. Many young creative professionals struggle to feel a sense of legitimacy in a society that undervalues artistic pursuits in favor of professions with medical, economic, or scientific emphasis. Creative professionals must confront anxiety and frustration associated with creative blocks and periods of stagnation. They must find ways to foster physical and mental spaces that create a sufficient “container” for their creative process, allowing imaginative states to unfold organically. Pursuing a creative career within a corporate setting means balancing the demands of a competitive industry with one's personal artistic vision and impulses. I feel a personal investment in helping creative professionals, artists, and affiliates of the entertainment industry navigate these special challenges. I also find it incredibly rewarding when patients share their creative works with me. I love discussing each work, learning more about the motivation behind the work, and getting to know my patients better through their artistic pursuits.

  • Entrepreneurs and Business Executives

As someone who owns and operates a growing mental health startup, I am familiar with the myriad challenges associated with a career in business entrepreneurship, venture capital, and corporate management. Members of these communities are particularly vulnerable to substance abuse, depression, and anxiety, due to the incredibly long hours and high stakes nature of these professions. These pressures can place a strain on one's relationships which leads to loneliness and isolation. This can create a vicious cycle of overwork and loneliness, while coping through substance use, which exacerbates psychological difficulties. I enjoy providing entrepreneurs, business executives, and members of adjacent industries with a reflective space to evaluate their life and work, develop strategies for managing work stress, improve connectedness in their relationships, while establishing a personally sustainable work-life balance.

  • Complex Trauma

Complex trauma refers to the experience of multiple traumatic events, usually beginning in childhood or adolescence, and persisting over time. This can include experiences of rejection, abandonment, exploitation, or abuse, often perpetrated by trusted figures (e.g., family, friends, teachers, coaches, or mentors). This type of trauma can have an enduring impact on the survivors personality because it occurs at an age where our personalities are still being formed, and our personality formation is heavily influenced by the nature and quality of our social relationships.
